What is the Cordyceps Mushroom?

There are two types of Cordyceps mushroom, Cordyceps Sinensis and Cordyceps Militaris. The most famous of the two, Cordyceps sinesis, originated from the Himalayan mountain regions of China. Weirdly enough, this fungus grows from the body of insects –– namely, the heads of dead caterpillars.

Cordyceps sinesis is a powerful medicinal mushroom that has been revered for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine. This mushroom was used to “improve energy, appetite, stamina, libido, endurance, and sleeping patterns.” The issue with this mushroom is that it can only be harvested from the wild –– as a result, it’s rare and expensive.

That’s where the Cordyceps militaris comes in! This mushroom species can be commercially-grown and is commonly used in supplements such as the industry-leading Life Cykel Mushroom liquid extracts found in our online Whistler dispensary. Similar to Cordyceps sinesis, it’s used as a tonic for fatigue, general weakness, and improved respiratory function –– all at a much better price point!

Cordyceps Benefits

The Cordyceps mushroom is sometimes referred to as the “athlete’s mushroom,” so if you’re a snowboarding or skiing fanatic, this is a must-have! Here are some of the main benefits of the Cordyceps mushroom:

Cordyceps in the Life Cykel Tincture

Life Cykel produces high-quality products with Australian sourced ingredients. Each tincture has Kakadu Plum, a native fruit with high amounts of Vitamin C –– it adds a sweet taste and enhances the effect of the mushrooms. The Cordyceps mushroom is grown and engineered in the US.

Although you can use the tincture at any time of the day, it is best consumed in the morning. Add Cordyceps liquid extract to your coffee, tea, or juice of choice for best results. The recommended serving size is 2ml (½ a dropper full is approximately 1ml).
